A Little Bit More About Me

Rhiannon Llewellyn was born in 1988 in Swansea and began studying singing
privately at the early age of ten. She soon started a large collection of prizes and bursaries at music festivals including "Best Soprano under 18" at the Hinckley Performer of the Year Awards 2002 and the ìMost Promising Young Singerî at the Maidenhead festival 2001.

In 2005 Rhiannon was selected as one of the winners of the "Two Moors Festival Young Musician's Platform", and gave a recital, compared by Stephanie Hughes from Radio 3, as part of the festival's concert series. After trotting the globe for several years and living in Wales, America and France, Rhiannon won a music scholarship to Taunton School where she studied with Alison Kettlewell. At the school in 2004, she became the first non-professional to sing the soprano solo for Mozart's Requiem with her school Choral Society and Taunton Philharmonic.

In November 2005 Rhiannon made her second oratorio appearance, singing the soprano solo for Vivaldi's Gloria. Later, in December, she gave her first solo recital in her home town in France, accompanied by Elizabeth Roeilly which, starting out as a small scale charity performance, packed the church, raising over seven hundred euros for the local school.

In January 2007, Rhiannon sang in 'Une Soiree D'Opera' in the South of France. A Concert involving young children to try and create a renewed interest in opera. Also, in June 2005 Rhiannon appeared as the guest soloist for the Taunton Deane Male Voice Choir's Annual Gala concert and shall be returning to sing with them and another male voice choir for St. Mary's Church, Taunton for their 8th centenary celebration in February 2007. In June 2006 Rhiannon took on the challenge of performing Mozart's 'Exsultate Jubilate' with Somerset County Orchestra. Reviews described her voice as being 'stunning... perfectly suited to Mozart's music.'

Rhiannon has just got back from Rome where she was studying music and Italian, however she shall be taking up a place at the Royal Welsh College of Music in September.
