Why Hire a Wedding Singer?

Although you could very cheaply use a CD at your wedding ceremony, a live professional singer takes the atmosphere to a higher and more sophisticated level. Pieces of classical music are performed to their highest standards by trained opera singers.

They can evoke strong emotions to reflect the elation of the day. Truly talented opera singers are not easy to come by so make sure you know exactly who you are dealing with and have heard an example of their voice and read testimonials from other clients.

So What do you do?
I normally sing two or three pieces during the service at the signing of the register to provide a focal point whilst your partner and yourself are sorting out the legalities and posing for photographs. However I can also sing for the entrance or exit of the bride, in place of a reading and/or also for half an hour before the service as guests are arriving.

I normally sing unaccompanied if the service is in a church because a large space adds an extra haunting quality and is particularly beautiful to be heard alone. However, I am happy to arrange for an organist, pianist or other instrumentalist or sing with the existing church organist.

So is it just classical music and opera?
Absolutely not! I first started singing pop songs and show tunes when I was younger and have a particular passion for the music of Gershwin, Porter and other jazz legends. From the 'Power of Love' to 'Somewhere Over the Rainbow' I endeavour to take it all on.

What kind of music do you sing?
Examples of the kind of music I sing can be found on my repertoire page,
however I am also able to sing pieces in the popular repertoire of the
couple's choice, in an appropriate style.

How do I know what all the words mean?
I speak fluent French and Italian, am studying Russian and have also studied German and Latin. When you make your booking I shall send you the wedding music guide with full translations and explanations. Any properly trained singer will be able to tell you exactly what they are singing and what it's meaning is.

Will we be able to meet you before the day?
I would be only to pleased to arrange a meeting at a time convenient to you. As I am currently based in South Wales/South West of England these are the areas that are easiest to get to. However, if you live farther a field do not fear, I have organised several weddings whilst living in Italy and the U.S.A using telephone and e-mail and with my complete music guide you can't really go wrong.

Can you learn a piece if it's not already in your repertoire?
I can of course learn pieces that are not already in my repertoire as long as I have three weeks notice.

Would you be able to give us ideas for other music in our wedding e.g. entrance of the bride?
Part of your package with me is my complete guidance on all musical aspects of your wedding including a detailed guide to wedding music that I have compiled with links to on-line audio tracks and videos to save buying expensive CDs to make an informed choice.

How much will it cost?
My prices are very reasonable and I always book far ahead in advance with regards to transport to keep your costs down. Each case is completely different due to transport, accommodation reasons etc so please e-mail me and I will endeavour to get back to you quickly with a quote.
